Day 20 Lauzerte to Lectoure

Another terrible nights sleep, I cannot understand why I am not sleeping as I am so tired.
What joy when I put my wet boots on this morning!!!!
I arranged to meet Jean at 0700 to get our taxi back to the Camino.

We were walking by 0800.

We were now in the Gers, the countryside was far less hilly and much easier on my legs.

We arrived at Flamarens after walking for 3 miles, another amazing sight greeted us.

Next to the Chateau was a ruined church I could not help but wonder what had been its downfall.

Dark clouds were looming I prayed we would not have a repeat of yesterday.

Thankfully is was a passing shower.

We climbed steeply into Miradoux and had a well earned cup of tea.

It did not take long before we were walking across fields again, the going underfoot  was terrible it was like walking through treacle, the heavy rain combined with the clay made the going extremely slow and arduous.

Dogs on a blog time, I saw the Labrador sitting on his own, as I approached him
the other dog came charging up and sat on him, the word was obviously out about DOB and he wanted to hog the limelight.

A wonderful DOB moment .

It was time for our picnic, just as we sat down, Jean Michelle appeared, as always it was great to see that beaming face.

Out came the wine.

Two of the nicest kindest men I could wish to meet.

On a plane Jeremy but not forgotten.

We met Flavien who is riding his monocycle from Le Puy to Santiago!!

What a character.

Just to be different it started to rain again.

After one last climb we arrived at Lectoure .

Sadly I could not get any  accommodation so I had to get a taxi to Condom to find a hotel.
Can you spot the socks?

I checked into my hotel, I was aching to get my wet boots off, I have to say when I did the smell was terrible, wet socks combined with woollen bootliners is not good..
Much to my delight the central heating was on so I  have managed to wash everything and most importantly get everything including my boots dry.
When I had my bath my first toenail came off , much to my surprise it did not hurt..
Tomorrow I will get a taxi out of Condom and walk back in.
My brother Malcolm is coming to see me tomorrow and will be spending the day with me on Wednesday which his going to be my second day off.
Today has been a tough day as I am so tired, mainly due to the lack of sleep, I pray I sleep tonight, my left knee really hurts but I am living with it .

Star for today.

Walked 16.15 miles

Distance to go 180 miles

Distance covered 280 miles

Elevation gain 3027 feet

Elevation loss 2018 feet
