Day 4 St Alban sur Limagnoleto to Aumont Aubrac

Barney left at 0700, I was sad to say goodbye but grateful I had a companion in Heather, we had breakfast and were on the road by 0845, I paid my respects at the local war memorial.

Just to be different within minutes of starting, we climbed yet again.

What a couple of beauties, Jeremy you would have been in heaven.

Just like yesterday it was very windy and extremely cold. The going underfoot was treacherous and it was not easy to press on.

We continued to climb, I felt for Heather as this was a tough introduction to the Le Puy, I have to say she took it in her stride.

As of yesterday we were not to pass through any towns or villages of any note, just stunning countryside again.

We dropped down into the Hamlet of Pont des Estrets.

Just when you think it is nice to be descending, you realise all that goes down goes up!!!

We stopped at the top as Heather needed to check her feet, I just sat down and yet again just marvelled at the stunning views, I bored Barney and I am doing the same to Heather by constantly going on about how beautiful this walk is.

The donkeys just keep coming.

We stopped for a well deserved cup of tea here.

Dog on a blog time.

Today was only going to be a short walk, so all too soon it was over and we arrived at Aumont Aubrac in time for lunch.

A fine Rose if I say so myself.
After lunch we walked around the town, then I went back to the hotel and had a wonderful snooze.
Heather would never admit to it but I think she was a little bit tired!!!
Tonight we are meeting up with some fellow walkers for a drink or two.

Stats for today.

Distance 10.49 miles

Elevation gain 1539 feet

56 miles covered

410 miles to go.

Today has been a great day, I have to admit yesterday I hit a real low, my left foot was killing me and I was exhausted, I have bounced back .I cannot believe I have only covered 56 miles in 4 days, such are the demands of the Le Puy.

17 miles of hills tomorrow
