I decided that I would walk back into Conques from the west this morning, so James kindly drove me further on down the Camino and I walked back into Conques, I have arranged for a taxi to take me back tomorrow to where I was dropped off today..
For once I was descending at the start of the walk.
The cows here are absolutey beautiful, I suspect this is an area renowned for its beef.
I was starting to descend steeply into the valley, the going was the toughest I have experienced so far.
How I never left slipped over on the rocks I will never know.
I came upon this beautiful little chapel halfway down the valley.
The view across to Conques was stunning.
It did not take long to reach the bottom of the valley, it had obviously been raining heavily the night before as the river was in full flow.
I climbed back into Conques, the whole walk only took me 90 minutes, I suspect if I had climbed out of the valley it would have taken twice as long, so at least I have got it behind me, when I start tomorrow.
I met up with James and Heather and we had lunch with Tony Sue and Sue, sadly it was soon time to say goodbye to James and Heather as their flight from Marseille was at 2200 hrs, once again a huge thank you to you both and Buen Camino, you have set me on my way.
After lunch I went and did some rubber necking around Conques, what a stunning place this is, I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
It is amazing how a small medieval town has such a massive cathedral
I gave James some of my kit to take home as the only way I am going to finish this walk is by lightening my load and boxing clever. I have got a long walk ahead of me tomorrow,
Stats for today.
Walked 5 miles
Steps taken 16700
Distance to go 323 miles
Today has been a semi day off, I have recharged my batteries and am ready for the next stage.
