Surprise surprise we started to climb again.
Another casualty of the Le Puy.
We continued to climb.
I could not help but notice that mist was coming in at a fast rate from the south, memories of my first day on the Francais Camino came flooding back to me when we got caught out in the Pyrenees.
We could not see more than 50 yards in front of us and then the rain started, I was in my element.
We came across two ladies who were struggling with the cold and the conditions, I gave one of them my gloves and we decided to stay with them until we descended below the mist, the wind was ferocious .
At last we started to descend towards Aubrac, I would imagine it would not be too hard to get seriously caught out in this region.
Now that is what I call a poncho, we walked with our ladies to the next Auberge and had lunch.
We had a really tasty vegetable soup with melted cheese . The locally specialty is this fruit tart.
Thank god Yotty is not here, otherwise we would be having one of these at every stop, a bit more filling than a Portuguese Tart.
We left feeling much better for some warm food.
We started the long descent down to St Chely d' Aubrac, as always the going was really treacherous.
This is an old volcano .
The going did not let up.
Location location location.
This was proving to be the longest descent so far.
Time for dog on a blog.
He should just fit into my rucksack.
At last the end was in sight, we had only covered 12 miles, but it seemed a lot longer due to the weather and the rocks strewn everywhere in our path.
We are staying in a lovely hotel, we checked in and I got straight into the bath with my clothes on and gave them a good wash.
We walked into town and bumped into Gregory, we are joining him later for a beer. That is his beret.
Stats for today.
Walked 12.32 miles.
Climbed 1257 feet.
Descended 2498 feet.
24400 paces.
Distance covered so far 82 miles.
Distance to go 384 miles.
Walking legends... 😉
