Day 7 St Chely d'Aubrac to Espalion

Bit of a party last night, nevertheless we were on the road by 0845.

Well you will not be surprised when I tell you we immediately climbed steeply yet again !!!

This is becoming a habit.

After an hour we arrived at a farm and had a rest.

We left feeling better for getting our boots off.

The rain that had been forecasted did not materialise.

The views yet again were simply stunning.

There is no doubt this is a tough walk, progress is still very slow and the hills are begining to wear me down.

We had been walking for what seemed hours when we stopped for lunch, walkers that we had met over the last few days began to turn up.

After lunch we walked into St Come d'Olt, what a beautiful medieval town.

We stopped for a drink with Gregory.

Dog on a blog time, this little fellow walks the 25 km from Aubrac to St Come d'Olt once a week on his own, his owner was just about to pick him up, what a character.

We only had three miles to go to Espalion, we thought we were home and dry.

It went on forever, we had one last really steep climb, by this time we were exhausted.

What joy when Espalion came into sight.

We walked in by the river.

We checked into our hotel, to find to my utmost surprise, my dear friend James Woods had turned up to walk for two days with us , he flew into Marseille this morning then drove 200 miles to join us, what a star!!!

Now I know I am in France.

Today has been a long day, both of us are exhausted, but it has not stopped us going out with our new found French friends for dinner.

I am introducing a new exciting feature on the blog, called what have I lost or broken this week.
Welł so far I have lost the following .
My camera charging lead.
My charger lead.
My Camino guide.
My sleeping bag liner.
Left my phone behind and Barney picked it up.
Broken my walking pole
One of my batteries was in my trousers when I washed them.
My rucksack is getting lighter by the day.

See if you can spot my socks.

Stats for today.

Walked 16.82 miles

Steps 38639

Distance covered to date 97 miles

Distance to go 355 miles
